Troop 347 was first chartered in January, 1967 by Chet F. Harritt School PTA. The charter was assumed by The Parents of Troop 347 in 1987. The present charter organization the Santee Chamber of Commerce assumed the Charter when Troop 1382 merged with Troop 347 on January 1, 2003.

Troop 347 has a rich history in competition at district camporee and summer camp winning several Pioneering , Commissioner and Top Knot Awards.

Troop 347 does a variety of Camping Activities such as Canoeing, Hiking, Camporee and Long-Term Summer Camp and many others.

Troop 347 has had several scouts and leaders participate in District Committees and Order of the Arrow Leadership positions.

Troop 347 has produced more than 20 Eagle Scouts.
